Measuring
|
|
There are four methods of installation. How you measure
is based on the depth of the window and the style (plantation or traditional) of shutter
you select. You do NOT need to figure individual panel
sizes or make allowances for fit.
Note: There is a minimum order size of 10 square feet (1440 square inches).

|
Inside
Mount - Direct to Jamb (INJ)
|
|
The shutters attach directly to the
window
jamb using butt hinges
that are mortised
into the hanging
stiles
of the shutter. This is generally the preferred installation
method for window opening with enough depth to accommodate the
shutters and still permit the louvers to rotate to the full open
position. Window openings should be nearly square with
measurements that do not vary more than 3/16".
Otherwise, Installation Method INH or an outside method is
suggested.
|
|
Inside Mount - On Rear Hang Strips (INH)
|
|
The shutters are attached to a rear hang strip
with adjustable offset hinges.
The hang strip is attached to the window
jamb with screws and to the shutter panel with an L-shaped hinge. This method of installation allows for more adjustment in window
openings that are not square, yet are deep enough to accommodate
the shutters with the hang strip and still permit the louvers
to rotate to the full open position. If depth is a problem, the hang strip and shutters may be moved out towards the room.
|
Outside Mount - Frame on Wall (FOW) or
Outside Mount - Frame on Trim (FOT)
|
|
This method is used almost exclusively for full height shutter units. A frame surrounds the shutters on the top and both sides (and on
the bottom if there is no window sill). The frame attaches
slightly beyond the window opening either on the wall
(FOW) or on the face of
the existing
trim (FOT). The installation method is typically used when an inside installation is not possible or the opening is out
of square.

|
Outside
Mount - Hang Strip on Wall (HOW) or
Outside Mount - Hang Strip on Trim (HOT)
|
|
This method is used almost exclusively for café
type shutter units. A hang strip attaches to each side of the
shutter unit and attaches slightly beyond the window opening on
either the wall
(HOW) or face of the existing
trim (HOT). The installation method is typically used when an inside installation is not possible or the opening is out of
square.
